Fat Blast Finale

Here we are Fat Blast Fans - The final day!  Whoo-whee!  What did you think?  Do you think a raw diet is too severe?  Did you miss not having cooked foods for over two weeks?  I know I didn't miss it since it's been uncommonly hot here in Southern California so the idea of firing up the stove or oven didn't seem terribly inviting.  A few of you have asked if I've lost any weight. I have lost about 5 pounds since MSB left two weeks ago.  Yeah!  However - I think this past week of nuts, nuts and more nuts was more than I could handle and I actually put on a couple of pounds that I had taken off the week before.  Insert sad face here.

For full disclosure Ani did say that if weight loss is the goal then repeating the second phase a few times rather than going on to the third phase is advisable.  Probably a good idea to space out the nutty recipes to no more than one a day or every other day to keep from having to blast even more fat off if the end.

What about the recipes?  Did you try any of them?  Where you intrigued enough to buy the book?  What was your favorite recipe?  What was the weirdest thing you think we had to eat?  Collard roll ups?  What about those crazy zucchini noodles?

What did you think I was going to pick of the many, many recipes I reviewed over the past two weeks? I'll tell you I was extremely glad I hit on the idea of making a spreadsheet of the recipes and my reviews. Rather than wade through all the recipes, I sorted out the recipes by letter grade and made an "all-stars" chart and then picked from the highest rated of those recipes. Easy peas-y!

Here's the all-stars spreadsheet:

I picked out three of the A+ rated dishes that I also happened to have the ingredients on hand.  I ended up not having one of the breakfasts since I had a breakfast meeting with some dear friends that are missionaries home from Mozambique.  By the time I got back I was more than ready for a mid-morning snack. I fondly remember the spectacular Pomegranate Blueberry Salad from day five.  I do remember that I nearly flipped out when I first had this sweet and tangy salad and since I had blueberries left over in the fridge this was an easy choice. So happy I made this because it is just as good as I remember.

For lunch I chose the wonderful Ginger Soup from day two.  As a reminder - since day two seems like an eternity ago- this soup consists of spinach, cool cucumber, smooth avocado and miso.  A little curry adds a nice, spicy bite to this thick and very tasty soup.  I still agree with myself from two weeks ago and would still give this an A despite having many other soups since then to compare this one to.

It was a busy day so I ended up not having a mid-afternoon snack.  Looking at the list that are so many soups that I would have loved to try again so I can't even say which one I would have picked so we'll move on to dinner.  I had quite a bit of bok choy left over from day one so I made the Spicy Bok Choy soup and it was even more wonderful than I remembered it.  To review, in addition to the bok choy there's cucumber, avocado, miso and some jalapeno pepper for some spice as well as some ginger.

As I mentioned before if you'd like me to send you the excel file of the recipes just send me a note.

Tomorrow we start Cherie Soria's Raw Revolution.  She has six days of recipes where each day more or less focuses on what the day's recipes help meet certain challenges.  You'll see what I mean as we go along.  One thing I'm looking forward to is there's a day with some dehydrated items that I'll get to drag out my old dehydrator and put that to use.  I do love my toys!

Let me know if you have any thoughts on our 15 days with Ani.

  1. I'm still eating a good portion of Ani's 15 Day Fat Blast menu items. i eat at least one a day, usually two.

I can hardly wait to read about your next phase as I know nothing about Cherie Soria.

  2. Me too, Jill.. I could live on simple strawberry or avocado amours with a few of those awesome salads thrown in. I love the slaw recipes, and the ones with sauerkraut, and the miso dressing. One thing Kyra and I loved about the fat blast was how fabulous our skin felt after all the good fats we consumed!
